3/12/2012 In Class Work

1. Kang argues that persona of certain athletic figures cause us to generalize oursevles. We allow ourselves to be generalized because this gives us a sense of belonging to a certain idea or group. He uses his own experience with the famous Japanese baseball player, Ichiro Suzuki.

2. Topic: the life of racial and ethnic seterotypes in sports
The majority of Kang's essay focuses on the racial stereotypes that happen in baseball. He claims that fans should base who they cheer for in baseball based upon a player's skill, not their ethnicity.

3. The author's arugement is effective in showing how Ichiro made Asians feel like they were apart of something, and this was largely due to stereotyping.
